Home made Halloween Invitations

This year we're hosting a little Halloween film fest for a few friends and I decided to go the old fashioned way and shunned facebook in exchange fir some hand made invitations with a simple ghost embroidered on to black card. The inserts were printed in orange and brown.

Ghost drawn freehand by me (obviously, it's not that hard is it?!).

Sorry for the dark photo!

Glossybox drawers - Embroidery station

I have seen many a tutorial for Glossybox drawers but I do believe this was the first to pop up and has been the basis of most of the others online.

After having a little organise (may be an understatement) I decided I really ought to make use of my old Glossyboxes that were piling up and it might be an idea not to keep all of my threads in a jumble in a random storage box in the living room.

So I followed the above tutorial and first off sorted my threads into colours.

Untitled

Made up the drawers, which wasn't too tricky from the instructions I was super careful before I glued anything though!

Then I added the drawer ties which I did in matching colours to the silks contained within.

Untitled

I popped my needles, scissors, seam ripper (and later other bits and bobs) in the top and ta-da, all done! A darn sight prettier and tidier than my mess was previously.

Birthday Card Embroidery: Happy Birthday Husband!

I have not one but two Timothys in my life. The first is my husband Timothy (below photo on the right) the second is draft exclude Timothy (left). As you can see from the below photo draft exclude Timothy appears to be taking up my side of the bed and is not in fact by a door excluding drafts.

I long ago accepted Timothy into my relationship with Timothy, We are firm friends and I get to have him all to myself sometimes (you're not sure which one I'm referring to right? ;D )

My husband tells me he has him in bed because he makes him comfortable in the position he likes to sleep in and if he didn't have Timothy he'd use a pillow. I have suggested using a pillow, this was turned down on the basis of why when I have a Timothy.

It is one of the sweetest and weirdest things about my husband.

As Timothy loves Timothy so much I thought he'd make a good card (drawn freehand).

Birthday Embroidery: Tiki Birthday

This card was made for my lovely, all American pin up gal, Kate Donovan.

She loves all thinks Tiki, so I made this along with a tea-towel for her home bar.

Again the patterns are from the wonderful Sublime Stitching

Pics of the accompanying tea-towel below. Althought this took me hours(!) I was so happy with how it came out and I got to buy a load of new silks as an excise (mwhahahaaaaaaa) after I ran out of every brown I had in store!

Birthday Card Embroidery: Shaun of the Dead

I made this for my friend Chelle's 30th birthday. I recently found out her favourite film is Shaun of the Dead and what better way to celebrate her birthday than a blood covered cricket bat with the words "You've Got Red On You"

Being a bit of a film obsessive myself this is probably my favourite out of all the cards I've made. Sometimes it's the more simpler ones that are the better. All drawn freehand with an attempt to make the cricket bat as film genuine as possible!
